With an alarming increase in the rates of vector-borne diseases in Ahmedabad, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s data has revealed that children below 15 years of age account for 26% of them. The data showed that out of 873 cases registered till September 22, 2022, 227 were children in the 0–14 age group. AMC’s report revealed that 20 out of 873 reported patients were less than a year old, followed by 49 patients aged between 1 and 4 years; 62 in the 5-8 category; and 96 in the 9–14 age group. The remaining 646 patients were over 15 years of age.

On the other hand, the data showed that the number of dengue cases had more than doubled in the previous week. As of September 11, hospitals have reported 217 cases of dengue, which nearly doubled to 470 between September 12 and September 18.

The hospitals in the city have reported 135 cases of malaria, 13 of falciparum, 470 of dengue, and 28 of chikungunya in the first 18 days of September.
